…and since AMD doesn’t give processor speed in Ghz, how can I compare it with the Intel processors? Pls help. I’m trying to setup a new barebones system and I haven’t decided yet which processor to use.
I don’t know the answer to your initial question, but while AMD doesn’t give the processor speed outright, the numbers after the version of the processor indicate the evquivalent speed.
An Athlon 64 +3500 is equivalent in to an Intel 3.5 Ghz in speed.
I do know that right now AMD doesn’t have an equivalent to the fastest Intel processor, but I am still an AMD fan.
That will list all the processors from Intel and AMD and how they rate on a specific benchmark. You should choose a benchmark that matches closest to what your most common usage will be (video encoding, gaming, etc..)
Intel Quad core processor running at 2.33Ghz
Core 2 DUo

Intel Core 2 Duo.
There is no AMD equivalent as yet for the Core 2 Duo. The best AMD processors still compete the higher Pentium series only.
Your best bet is to go to:
