Better get a new motherboard!
Chipset are not designed to be simply replaced, and you only need to miss one item and it was all for nothing.
I usually buy new boards and sell the old ones on eBay!
First of all I am going to assume you mean a new processor, because you cannot change the chipset on a motherboard. If you do want a new processor read the rest, if not then you have your answer.
You need to run this program:http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php to find out what kind of socket you have. If you have AM2 (which I am sure you don’t) the highest you can get is the FX-62. If you have socket 939 the best is the FX-60. If you have a different socket, then you would need a new motherboard. The FX-60 will run you about $600.
