I want to get a New Lap Top, Should I Buy a AMD Turion or an Intel Centrino Dual Core Processor?

I use my computer mainly for photos, email and word processing. I do like to play a game on it once in a while.

I am really needing help deciding which one to pick.

I want an HP Computer – I know that much.

I cant decide whether to go with a AMD 64 Turion Processor with 2 gigs of ram for 800.00 or go with an intel centrino processor for $ 1024.00

BOTH PROCESSORS ARE EXCELLENT BUT IF YOU WANT MORE LAPTOP BATTERY TIME FOR MOBILITY,GET THE CENTRINO.

Well, I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 running on AMD64 Turion TL50. It’s good enough for me for emails, photos, word processing. Simple games that are not graphic intensive are also ok. If that’s acceptable, save that $200 for other stuffs.

The Centrino line of processors is going to be faster pound-for-pound versus an AMD processor, AND is significantly more efficient for greater battery life.

As is generally the case, you get what you pay for. I’d say go with the Intel, and spend the rest of your money on an ADH service plan or upgrading to 3GB of RAM (Don’t get 4GB…your computer won’t recognize it anyway…)
