How much will it cost to upgrade my computer processor to run Half-Life 2: episode one better?

Btw, I am pretty computer illiterate haha. Now, Half-Life 2 runs fine at medium settings except for when there’s tons of smoke in the game. I recently bought Half-Life 2: Episode One but my computer has the hardest time running it, its practically unplayable with all the lag. I was wondering how much it would cost to upgrade my processor to the recommended 2.4GHz that the game recommends?
You can’t upgrade the processor on laptops. You would have to buy a brand new laptop.
