Yes, it’s very important so that you can communicate with clients.

Well, you dont possibly need to know all the names and models and stuff like that. If you only know the basic popular models, thats enough. According to your job description, you will get to know the other models as time goes automatically.

You dont need to attempt to learn them instead, your job will lead you do that.

So, what I suggest is that, you dont need to cramply learn all those models and brands. Make sure that, you know some of the most popular models and that would be enough to make a leap

No. There are so many more valuable things to commit to memory. As long as you know a website or have a list in text file of the specs of these CPU you have all you need. Mostly you don’t need to know at all.

It’s more valuable, for example, to know what how many BIOS beeps indicates a processor failure. With a failed CPU you won’t be getting on the Internet or into your documents to check anything.

I’ve been a Desktop Support Analyst for eight years and I’m currently a Senior Systems Engineer.

yaa it is nessecarry to know about running product and upcoming product if u r computer technician. go to intel and amd home website and study abt that. u will got all latest information about that. you have to know about some outdated product due to running in market so u can get information though google.

All you really need to know is what processor goes in what motherboard, and how to setup cpu for the board. Everything else is just water under the bridge. On the A+ test it asks for different types of cpus, but unless you take the test, you don’t need to know alot about them.
